Bernard Black, Western Technical College's Minority Advisor came to me with a challenge and a worthwhile cause; brand a new organization, the African American Cultural Alliance. AACA, which exists without racism, sexism or ageism and is designed to help lower income families and individuals achieve a better life.
I designed a full brand identity package including print and web work to promote AACA's ideals. The challenge was bringing AACA to the public with the correct marketing message, 'this is something for everyone, not just African Americans.'
I went with the "culture, community, and unity" subcategories under the main theme of "AACA - Unifying the La Crosse area." With this approach everyone's cultures are recognized and respected within the community, allowing for a unified advance on a quality lifestyle.
AACA held an open to the public informational meeting on December 18, 2009 in the La Crosse area Ho-Chunk Nation offices were the Mayor of La Crosse, Matt Harter opened up for us with a speech concerning the need for AACA in the La Crosse area. When Mr. Harter was finished Bernard spoke to the audience on what AACA was trying to achieve and what AACA wants to become in the future. I finished up by presenting my marketing message for AACA to the public and showing off the start of the AACA website for the pubic to see for the first time.
The African American Cultural Alliance is a non-profit organization advocating growth for the people of the La Crosse area. When AACA receives its 501(c)(3) status it will be live and open to help the public. Until that time the AACA website will be on hold.
