In many ways the Blackrose project was an exciting design. I loved the initial thought of a Coffee Bar and the energy that would come from its planning and execution.
Writing the name in ballpoint pen and turning it into a vector object created the Blackrose logo, this gave the Blackrose logo unique feel. After that I designed the roses themselves starting off with an extremely complex a liquid metal rose. The end of the roses was an electric guitar plug; good idea, but it didn't make it into the final design. In the end I used a simple black shadow element, which turned out to be the best way to go for the overall look of the design; I still used the liquid metal rose as a decoration for the sides of the shopping bag.
After the project was completed I entered and won Best-of-Show Best of Show - 2006 Gutenberg Competition Electronic Publishing & Design, a nice end to a great concept design.
